From arrival to departure and around the clock, sustainability is a way of life at the four-star TAUERN SPA resort. The motto is “give and take” – water and energy in particular are used responsibly. Wherever technically possible, circular systems have been and continue to be established. One of the first visible steps was the ISO 50001 certification for sustainable energy management in 2017. Since then, sustainable thinking has been high on the agenda in Kaprun. In 2023, these efforts were rewarded with the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel. 

Mad about green living

For us, sustainability begins with a green journey, which is particularly convenient by train. Kaprun train station is just over a mile away, and Zell am See train station is less than five miles away from us. Bus line 660 has been running from Zell am See directly to the spa entrance since 2016. From May 1, the mobility card allows hotel guests to access all public transport in the Salzburg region free of charge. Eight EV charging stations with 100% green electricity are available on-site for guests with electric vehicles.

Salzburg expedition

We have long been aware that food does not improve by traveling halfway around the world. In addition, local products contribute significantly to an authentic experience of the region. Each day, we take our guests on a culinary journey through the Salzburg region. You’ll get to know the flavors of the region at the breakfast buffet, at lunch, and at gourmet dinner in the evening: crusty bread, farm butter, fresh eggs, meat from the Hohe Tauern mountains, and local fish. Our delicacies only travel short distances and are guaranteed to come from sustainable sources. 

Enjoyment with a clear conscience 

After breakfast, head to the SPA to recharge your batteries – go for a swim, relax in the sauna and enjoy a beauty treatment. Here too, we ensure that your experience is both enjoyable and sustainable. The energy you use during your stay comes entirely from renewable sources. 70% of our heating is generated from biogas, and we use river water for cooling. And at Alpin Vital SPA & Kosmetik, you can enjoy soothing natural skincare. We bring green to the spa scene.

Sleeping soundly

Since 2019, our four-star hotel has had a nature wing with 60 nature and garden rooms that are furnished with high-quality natural materials. We do not use harmful chemicals for cleaning – better for the environment and better for your health. (This applies to all rooms)

For an even better sleep experience, you have the option of a “digital detox”: Simply press the green button to turn off the power circuit.

Environmental and climate protection affect each and every one of us. True sustainability is only possible when we work together. Since 2024, guests at the TAUERN SPA Zell am See-Kaprun have had the option to foregoing room cleaning during their stay. The savings are used to support a project in the region, for the region.
